My first attempt at social science research was in 7th grade, when I was curious to find out whether listening to different types of music while painting would have an effect on the paintings produced by preschoolers. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from University of the Pacific, and a Master’s degree in Social Psychology from Claremont Graduate University, I knew that I wanted to spend my life doing social science research and data analysis, but I didn't know how I could make a career out of it. Then I landed my dream job in the Institutional Research office at Cal State Northridge.
I came to SBCC in 2003 to continue my career as a research analyst. For me, institutional research is the perfect way to make my part of the world a better place by doing what I love. I may not work directly with individual students, but I get great satisfaction from knowing that what I do contributes to positive changes that improve the lives of countless students.
